I don't get it. This is a RHD car, with the driver's door shoved as close as possible to the pillar.

This is what happens when you insist on parking nose out but can't backup straight. At least he's not taking another parking spot.

I own a 1992 Toyota Camry sedan and my step dad owns a 1992 Chevy Truck. Long story short, the 1992 Camry is an immensly nicer car when you compare the two. The 1992 Camry has a far smoother, more responsive transmission, and performs and handles far better while providing an interior that looks 20+ years more modern, and is built to much higher levels of refinement than comparable GM or Ford products at the time. In fact, Ford and GM admitted to USA Today that Toyota's 3rd Generation Camry was a surperior product in terms of engineering and even styling sophistication when they reverse engineered Camrys and compared it to their own products. Sadly, modern camrys aren't nearly as highly built, but in my experience, a 1992 Camry is one of the nicest, most over-built cars I've ever been in. It literally has a theater-quality Dolby surround sound audio system that takes a steaming crap on the Chevy trucks stereo system. The stamping process, NVH reduction technology, material and part tolerances and quality, are all better. You can ask veteran engineers from BMW, all other japanese car companies, and GM, especially Ford, and Chrysler about a 1992 Camry and they will most likely tell you it is one of the most technologically sophisticated cars ever made. Its non-synchronous transmission was state-of-the art. Hell, my 1992 Camry is more fun to drive than my mom's 2000 Impreza L coupe, which feels more cheaply made and doesn't perform any better. Additionally, the 1992 Camry's body shape was designed specifically to scare all other car companies because the stamping of the C-pillar was something no other car company was capable of. The Gen 3 Camry is regarded in industry as a benchmark that set the standard. Bob Lutz admitted the Japanese were building better cars. I like domestic cars, in fact I love almost all cars, but when somebody who is ignorant and doesn't use logic and instead ignorantly bashes on a car they know nothing about, I use the knowledge I've gained from being in my 4th year of Mechanical Engineering school to destroy their arguments. Now, please google "car: a drama of the american workplace" and get back to me lol. :p

It appears that the mirror is behind the pillar so the door would open fine and not be close to the pillar. Reason being to keep another door from dinging the car, which from what I can see there isn't another space next to it because of that curb.

NEED MOAR DATA!
